Our Story

The Zari by L&L Collective

In the heart of India, where tradition whispers through woven threads and every motif tells a story, two women set out on a journey — not just to build a brand, but to celebrate a legacy.
Under the parent company L&L Collective, The Zari was founded by two women with a simple yet powerful mission. It is born from friendship, courage, and a shared love for India’s timeless elegance — the saree. What began as casual conversations over coffee turned into a passionate mission: to preserve and promote authentic Indian weaves, while making them accessible to modern women across the world.

As daughters, mothers, and dreamers, we knew the saree was more than just fabric — it was heritage, art, and identity. But too often, its makers — the artisans, weavers, and traditional sellers — remain unseen and undervalued. That’s when we decided: our brand would be a bridge — between tradition and modernity, between rural hands and global hearts.

We travel across India, from the looms of Kanchipuram to the silk houses of Mysore, sourcing handpicked sarees directly from artisans and trusted wholesale families. We skip middlemen, ensuring every piece you see is not just beautiful, but ethically sourced and fairly priced.

Our collections are small, curated, and deeply personal. Each saree tells a story — of a weaver's legacy, of a motif passed down generations, of silken threads soaked in cultural memory. We believe in slow fashion — quality over quantity, heritage over hype.

Behind every fold is a woman like you — bold, rooted, and effortlessly graceful.

The Story Behind Our Logo

At The Zari, our logo is more than a mark — it's a tapestry of meaning.

Designed with deep symbolism and cultural richness, the logo weaves together the essence of who we are and what we stand for.

✨ The Threads

The intertwining loops reflect woven threads, symbolizing the intricate handwork of India’s master artisans. Like the warp and weft of a saree, these threads hold centuries of legacy and craftsmanship.

✨ The Two ‘L’s

Hidden gracefully in the design are two L’s, a tribute to our parent company — L&L Collective — founded by two visionary women. These L’s are the pillars on which The Zari stands: Love and Legacy.

🔴 The Bindhi

At the heart of the logo lies a striking red bindhi — the traditional mark worn by Indian women. It’s more than an adornment — it symbolizes strength, femininity, and centeredness. It reminds us that women are the nucleus of heritage, the keepers of grace, and the voice behind The Zari.

🌸 The Kolam (Rangoli)

The flowing form of the symbol also echoes a Rangoli — the traditional rice flour drawing made at the entrance of South Indian homes every morning. Just like a kolam welcomes prosperity and positivity, The Zari opens a door to beauty, tradition, and mindful living.

Our logo, like our brand, is a homage to Indian womanhood, heritage, and art.
Each element tells a story. Together, they whisper: This is The Zari.
